In our spiritual journey, we often find ourselves wrestling with the tension between grace and the distractions that pull us away from God. Romans 5 reminds us of the incredible abundance of grace available to us—grace that is superabundant, never running dry, even in the midst of our struggles. This is a powerful reminder that God is always calling us closer, inviting us to respond to His love.
As we explore the theme of “much more,” it’s essential to examine the idols we may have built in our lives. Idols can take many forms—anything that steals our time, attention, or devotion fraom God. Sometimes these are obvious, but often they’re subtle, creeping into our lives when we least expect it. In this season, God has been prompting us to identify and dismantle these altars, whether they are created by us or used against us.
Consider the story of Saul, who made an unlawful sacrifice, resulting in dire consequences. This serves as a stark reminder that when we place anything before God, we risk losing sight of His will for our lives. We must examine our hearts and ask ourselves: What are the pillars of strength we rely on? Are they rooted in God, or have we turned to substitutes when we grew weary?
Recently, many of us have felt the weight of spiritual battles—battles that can either wear us out or draw us closer to God. The choice lies in how we face these challenges. Just as God led the Israelites with a pillar of cloud, we must seek His guidance in our own struggles. In moments of trial, let’s remember that God desires much more for us: deeper intimacy, greater understanding, and a closer walk with Him.
These spiritual assaults can reveal desolate places in our hearts that need addressing. Instead of allowing these battles to consume us, we can view them as opportunities for growth. God often uses discomfort to dismantle what isn’t meant to be there, making way for a more profound connection with Him.
As we navigate this journey, let’s commit to seeking God more earnestly. This week, take time to reflect on what might be hindering your relationship with Him. Create a space for prayer, worship, and openness to His voice. If God speaks to you, share it with others—together, we can support one another in removing the distractions that keep us from His presence.
Tonight, let’s set aside time to push into God. With the band taking a break, let’s focus on personal and communal prayer, seeking His face and inviting His presence to fill the dry places in our hearts. Together, we can dismantle the idols that have taken root and embrace the abundant grace that God freely offers.
In doing so, we open ourselves to experiencing the fullness of His love and the transformative power of His grace. Let’s draw closer to God, dismantling every barrier and stepping into the freedom He desires for us.
Augusta Church wants to help you become the person God made you to be. No matter where you are in your journey, you’re invited to discover your purpose and live it out at Augusta Church. It’s our prayer that you feel loved and welcome just as you are the moment you walk in our doors.
Augusta Kids is all about raising up the next generation to become sons and daughters of God. We are passionate about helping children identify their strengths and their call at the youngest age possible. We desire to guide them in their relationship with God and to prepare them for the power and presence of God and His glory. We aim to teach children about who God made them to be and to embrace a biblical perspective of their life and purpose. We work to help our kids become the next supernatural generation who engage in a church where they can help bring people into freedom by healing the sick, casting out demons, feeding the hungry, and taking care of the impoverished. We look forward to helping parents raise up a generation of spiritual warriors. We don't believe children have to wait for their calling to be enacted - we don't babysit we are called to equip.
There are times when life is overwhelming, when all we have is questions. In those moments, hope can feel far away. The great thing about prayer is that it shifts our perspective towards the One who stands ready to listen. No matter what you're facing, we'd love to pray with you!
