Overcoming Fear and Embracing God's Call: Ananias Pt2

July 22, 20243 min read

Walking with God often means facing seemingly insurmountable challenges and opposition. People will contradict you, and some may even wish for your failure. But instead of responding with anger or curses, we are called to pray for them. This act of grace reflects the teachings of Jesus, who urged us to love and pray for our enemies, recognizing that we do not fully understand their journey or the blessings they might bring into our lives.

Heaven

The Present Reality of God's Kingdom

God's kingdom is not a distant future promise; it is a present reality filled with power and authority. This truth should encourage us to live out our full potential today. However, fear often stands in our way, much like it did for Saul. Saul was driven by fear—fear of losing control and fear of the unknown—which led him to persecute Christians.

Fear and Transformation: Saul to Paul

John Henry Cardinal Newman once said, "Fear not that thy life shall come to an end, but rather fear that it shall never have a beginning." Saul's life was dominated by fear, preventing him from seeing the greater purpose God had for him. But God had a plan far beyond Saul's comprehension. He transformed Saul into Paul, a key figure in the New Testament, demonstrating that God's power can change anyone completely.

Paul’s transformation highlights a crucial point: God doesn’t always change our circumstances; often, He changes us. Fear kills dreams, while faith pushes us toward our divine potential. This lesson is clearly illustrated in the parable of the talents, where God expects growth and advancement from us. Staying stagnant is not an option in God's kingdom because He loves us too much to let us remain the same.

The Cost of Advancement

Advancement in God's kingdom comes with a cost. Saul had to leave behind his old life, family, status, and security to embrace his new calling as Paul. Similarly, Ananias had to take a leap of faith to assist Saul, risking his life in the process. Stewarding God's gifts requires sacrifice, but the returns are beyond anything we can imagine.

God's mathematics defy human logic. In His kingdom, what seems impossible becomes possible. Saul's transformation into Paul demonstrates the boundless possibilities when we surrender to God. Despite his losses, Paul's impact is immeasurable, with his writings inspiring millions over centuries.

The Parable of the Talents: Embracing Growth

The parable of the talents teaches us that breaking even is not enough. God desires growth and advancement. We must continually push the gospel forward, striving to do greater things for His glory. The story of Paul would be incomplete without Ananias, whose obedience played a critical role in Paul's conversion. This emphasizes the importance of our actions and obedience, no matter how small they may seem.

The Power of Obedience

It’s not about the scale of our calling but our obedience to it. Ananias’ role in bringing Paul to Christ shows that our obedience can have far-reaching impacts. We may never fully understand the vastness of our obedience, but God uses it to further His kingdom in ways we can’t imagine.

In conclusion, let us embrace God's call with faith, overcoming our fears and understanding that our obedience, no matter how small, can lead to transformative impacts. By praying for those who oppose us, embracing God's kingdom now, and striving for continual growth, we can live out our potential and advance the gospel in powerful ways.

Kids Ministry

Augusta Kids is all about raising up the next generation to become sons and daughters of God. We are passionate about helping children identify their strengths and their call at the youngest age possible. We desire to guide them in their relationship with God and to prepare them for the power and presence of God and His glory. We aim to teach children about who God made them to be and to embrace a biblical perspective of their life and purpose. We work to help our kids become the next supernatural generation who engage in a church where they can help bring people into freedom by healing the sick, casting out demons, feeding the hungry, and taking care of the impoverished. We look forward to helping parents raise up a generation of spiritual warriors. We don't believe children have to wait for their calling to be enacted - we don't babysit we are called to equip.

Need Prayer?

There are times when life is overwhelming, when all we have is questions. In those moments, hope can feel far away. The great thing about prayer is that it shifts our perspective towards the One who stands ready to listen. No matter what you're facing, we'd love to pray with you!
